Engine Oil System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1985 Chevrolet Sprint. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Engine uses force-feed type lubrication system, utilizing an internal gear-type pump. Pump assembly is mounted on front lower case and is driven directly by crankshaft. Oil is drawn up through pump and passes through oil filter.
Flow is diverted through 2 passages in cylinder block. One passage reaches crankshaft journal bearings and connecting rod journal bearings and the other flows up to cylinder head to lubricate camshaft and valve train.
