A/C RATTLE/SQUEAK/INOPERATIVE - BRACKET INSTALLATION

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR A/C BRACKET

Model(s): ALL Suzuki Swift

Bulletin No.: TS 2-12 03181

Group: Air Conditioning & Heating

Symptom: Rattle or squeak from air conditioning compressor or A/C inoperative.

CORRECTION

  1. Use thread lock compound on all A/C bracket bolts and all A/C compressor mount bolts.
  2. Use torque wrench
  3. Torque bolts IN PROPER SEQUENCE and to proper specification. See Fig 1 , Fig 2 and Fig 3 .

A/C BRACKET TO ENGINE BLOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

  1. Install all bolts, hand tighten using thread lock compound.
  2. Torque all bolts in sequence indicated by () numbers.
NOTE: Failure to use proper torque or torque sequence may result in bracket working loose.

COMPRESSOR TO BRACKET MOUNTING PROCEDURE

  1. Install bolt (1) and (2) using thread lock compound and torque to specification.
  2. Install bolt (3) and nut (except GT) using thread lock compound and torquing to specification.
    NOTE: Inspect sliding collar and bracket make sure it slides as you torque bolt (3) and takes up the air gap between the compressor mounting ear and compressor bracket. If the collar fails to take up the air gap, the compressor will work loose and may cause extensive damage.
  3. GT Model only. Install bracket and bolts (4) using thread lock compound and torque to specification.

NOTE: Failure to follow this information will result in loosening/breaking of bolts or stress fractures of the compressor mounting bracket or compressor mounting ear.
