Engine Oil System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1986 Chevrolet Sprint. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
A gear type pump assembly is mounted on front lower case and is driven directly by crankshaft. Oil under pressure from pump passes through oil filter. Flow is then diverted through 2 passages in cylinder block. One passage reaches crankshaft journal bearings and connecting rod journal bearings. The second passage directs oil under pressure to lubricate camshaft and valve train.
