Valve Guide Servicing: Installation

  1. Prior to valve guide installation, ream guide hole with Reamer (J-34832) or a 12 mm reamer, to remove burrs. Ensure diameter of hole is within specification.
  2. Heat cylinder head to 176-212°F (80-100°C) and drive valve guide into hole using Valve Guide Remover/Installer (J-34834). Drive guide until installer contacts cylinder head. After installation, top of guide should measure 14 mm from surface of cylinder head.
  3. Ream valve guide bore with Reamer (J-34831) or a 7 mm reamer. After reaming, clean bore. Install valve spring seat to cylinder head. By hand, install new oil seal using Oil Seal Installer (J-34835). Ensure seal is properly seated. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
