Starter - Gt (M/T): Overhaul: Disassembly
- Scribe mating surfaces of starter housing and drive housing and mating surfaces of solenoid and drive housing for reassembly reference. For exploded view of starter motor, see Figure
- Remove starter field coil wire to solenoid terminal retaining nut. Remove 2 screws holding solenoid to drive housing.
- Remove 2 through bolts and 2 bolts holding rear bracket to yoke and front housing. Remove motor assembly with end housing , reduction gear assembly (center bearing and shock absorber) with overrunning clutch and drive lever from drive housing.
- To overhaul Reduction gear assembly, remove plate , planetary gears and washer. See Fig 1.
- To remove over-run clutch, push stop ring in toward clutch remove armature ring, and slide-off overrunning clutch. See Fig 2.
