3RD Clutch Assembly, Sprag & Input Sun Gear: Inspection
- Inspect piston return springs for wear and distortion. Replace as necessary. Inspect clutch piston for wear, damage and condition of check ball. If check ball is missing or falls out upon inspection, replace piston.
- Inspect steel thrust washer on front face of 3rd clutch drum. Replace if scored or damaged. Inspect all other thrust washers and thrust bearing for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
- Inspect condition of composition and steel clutch plates. Replace as necessary. Inspect sprag assembly for wear, damage or sprags that fall freely out of cage. Inspect input sun gear for chipped or nicked teeth or abnormal wear. Replace as necessary.
