Removal & Installation (Swift)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel, horn pad and combination switch. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD and COMBINATION SWITCH in this article. Unplug wiring connectors to steering column switches.
Pull back floor mat at bottom of steering shaft and remove lower steering column cover. Remove steering shaft joint upper side bolt. See Fig 1 .

Remove steering column upper mounting nuts. See Fig 2 . On A/T vehicles, remove back drive cable from steering column assembly. Remove steering column. To install, reverse removal procedure.
