Front Axle Shafts: Installation

  1. Install left axle shaft. Tighten axle shaft-to-inner axle shaft flange bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install right axle shaft. Ensure snap ring on axle shaft seats in differential carrier. Install steering knuckle. Tighten ball joint nut and steering knuckle-to-strut bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install dust shield.
  3. If replacing seal in hub assembly, use Seal Installer (09944-66010). Coat seal lip with grease before installing hub assembly. Install hub assembly, thrust washer and wheel bearing nut. Tighten wheel bearing nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install wheel bearing nut lock plate.
  4. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . When installing locking hub, use NEW "O" ring.
