Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement

WARNING:
  • When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING . Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
  • Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
Preliminary Procedures 
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING .
  2. Remove the center console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT .
1 Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Nut (Qty: 3)
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

Tightening torque 
5 N.m (44 lb in) 
2 Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module
Tip:  If you do NOT perform the BCM programming procedure, the vehicle option content information which is read by the BCM may be incorrect and a DTC B1001 Option Configuration Error will set in both the SDM and the BCM. This will illuminate the AIR BAG telltale. Refer to CONTROL MODULE REFERENCES .
