Canister Purge Solenoid

  1. Double fitting purge solenoid is located at rear of engine compartment at center of firewall. Turn ignition off. Disconnect solenoid connector. Turn ignition on. Check White/Blue solenoid wire for battery voltage. Battery voltage is supplied by EFI main relay from the main fuse.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter check solenoid resistance. Solenoid resistance should be 33-39 ohms. Remove vacuum hoses from solenoid. Connect short section of hose to either fitting of solenoid. Blow through hose. Air should not pass through solenoid.
  3. Energize solenoid by applying battery voltage and ground across solenoid terminals. Blow through hose. Air should pass through solenoid. Replace solenoid or repair ground circuit from control unit if solenoid does not respond as described.
