Fuel Sender - Modification And Manual Update

TSB No. TS 4-22 05106
Section Title:

Division: Automotive
Category: Technical

SUBJECT:
MODIFICATION OF FUEL GAUGE UNIT

MODEL:
SIDEKICK, SIDEKICK SPORT, X-90

YEAR:
MARCH 1996 PRODUCTION AND LATER

CONDITION:
Modification of fuel gauge unit.

CAUSE:
To improve the accuracy of the fuel level gauge.

CORRECTION:
When diagnosing the fuel level gauge system, please use the information included in this bulletin.

This bulletin is to inform you of the modification in the fuel gauge which has been carried out since March 1996 production. The reason for this modification was to standardize the internal circuitry of the fuel gauge units in order to prevent inaccurate fuel level indication. As a result of this modification, the resistance values for the fuel level gauges and the color of their connecting couplers have changed. Please note these changes in Section 8 in the service manual entitled, "FUEL METER/FUEL GAUGE UNIT." A list of the applicable service manuals is listed below.

The early and late units are interchangeable and their respective part numbers have not changed. Both units can be identified by their electrical connectors as shown in this bulletin.
