PTC (Mixture) Heater Relay

  1. Turn igniton off. Disconnect PTC heater relay. Relay is located in engine compartment near right shock tower. Start engine. With engine idling, battery voltage should be present on White/Black wire from main fuse and on Light Green/Red wire from control relay terminal "E". Correct as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance across White/Greeen wire terminal of relay and Light Green/Red wire terminal of relay. Continuity should exist. If not replace relay.
  3. Energize relay by applying battery voltage to Light Green/Red wire terminal of relay and ground to White/Green wire terminal of relay. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance across White/Black wire terminal of relay and White wire terminal of relay. Continuity should exist only while relay is energized. If relay does not function as described, replace relay.
