Steering System - Manual: Samurai

  1. Repeat steps 1) through 3) of PINION SHAFT STARTING TORQUE procedure. Pull on the spring scale to turn flexible joint through one complete turning cycle.
  2. Note the operating torque measurement. Operating torque should be less than 6.96 INCH lbs. (1.58-2.63 N.m). Loosen or tighten adjusting bolt as necessary to achieve proper torque.
  3. If the pinion shaft starting torque and operating torque tests have been performed and adjustment is not possible, replace steering gear.
