Lock-Up Relay (A/T)

  1. Locate lock-up relay at right rear corner of engine compartment, in front of battery. Start engine. Check for battery voltage at lock-up relay Light Green/Red wire from control relay terminal "E". Check for battery voltage at lock-up relay White/Red wire from stoplight switch. Voltage through stoplight switch should drop to zero volts when the brake pedal is depressed.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect lock-up relay connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between Light Green/Red wire terminal of relay and White/Yellow wire terminal of relay. If continuity does not exist, replace relay.
  3. Apply battery voltage to Light Green/Red wire terminal of relay. Apply ground to White/Yellow wire terminal of relay. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between White and White/Red wire terminals of relay. If continuity does not exist, replace relay. Continuity should only exist while relay is energized.
