Wheel Bearing: Installation

  1. Install bearing races in hub. Ensure bearing races are fully seated. Pack wheel bearings with grease. Install inner bearing. Install seal until seal is even with hub surface.
  2. Coat seal lip with grease. Fill hub cavity with .50 ozs. (15 g) of wheel bearing grease. Reverse removal procedures. Adjust wheel bearing. See WHEEL BEARING under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION in this article.
  3. Apply Sealing Compound 366E (99000-31090) to hub and drive axle flange prior to installation (if equipped). Tighten bolts to specification.
