Steering Knuckle: Installation

  1. Reverse removal procedures. Pack kingpin bearings and spindle bushing with Grease (99000-25010) prior to installation. Apply approximately 5 ozs. (150 g) of Grease (99000-25010) to the inside of steering knuckle prior to installation.
  2. Install kingpins and shims in original location. Check kingpin adjustment. See KINGPIN under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION in this article.
  3. Once correct adjustment is obtained, apply Sealing Compound 366E (99000-31090) to kingpin-to-steering knuckle contact areas. Install kingpin and shims. Apply Lock Cement 1342 (990000-32050) to kingpin bolts prior to installation. Tighten bolts to specification.
  4. Apply Sealing Compound 366E (99000-31090) on dust cover-to-steering knuckle contact areas, spindle-to-brake caliper holder and spindle-to-steering knuckle areas prior to installation. Install hub assembly.
  5. Adjust wheel bearings. See WHEEL BEARING under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION  in this article. Tighten bolts to specification.
