Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Suzuki XL7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
  2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit of the connector and ground.
    • If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, shift selector in PARK then out of PARK, verify that a test lamp illuminates in PARK and does not illuminate out of PARK between the steering column key cylinder lock solenoid control circuit and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate properly, test the solenoid control and park switch ignition voltage circuits for a short to ground, open/high resistance or short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the park switch.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition lock cylinder solenoid.
