Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Suzuki XL7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the ambient air temperature sensor.
- Test for less than 1.0 Ω of resistance between the low reference circuit and ground.
- If greater than 1.0 Ω, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the inside rearview mirror.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8 - 5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit and ground.
- If less than 4.8 volts, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the inside rearview mirror.
- If greater than 5.2 volts, tests the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the inside rearview mirror.
- Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit and the 5-volt reference circuit. Verify the temperature display is greater than 60°C or 140°F.
- If less than 60°C or 140°F, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the inside rearview mirror.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ambient air temperature sensor.
