Removal & Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove shift lever boot. Remove shift lever case cover bolts, and remove shift lever. Disconnect back-up light and 5th gear switch. Disconnect starter motor wiring, and remove stater. Remove clamps attaching fuel hoses to transmission case. Drain transmission oil.
  2. Disconnect clutch cable from clutch release lever. Remove both drive shafts. Remove clutch inspection plate. Remove engine-to-transmission bolts and nuts. Remove crossmember and transmission rear mounting bracket. Remove center exhaust pipe.
  3. Lower transmission from vehicle. Install flywheel holder. Mark pressure plate and flywheel for reassembly reference. Remove 6 pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts. Remove pressure plate and clutch disc. Remove clutch release bearing. See Figure .
