Valve Clearance

  1. Remove cylinder head cover. Remove ignition timing check window rubber plug from clutch housing of transmission case. See Figure .
  2. Turn crankshaft clockwise (viewing from crankshaft pulley side) to bring line above "T" mark (punched on flywheel) in line with match mark on transmission case. In this position, cylinder No. 1 is at TDC.
  3. Check valve clearance at intake valves No. 1 and 2, and exhaust valves No. 1 and 3. See Fig 1 . Adjust valves to specification.
  4. Turn crankshaft one complete revolution, and check valve clearance at intake valves No. 3 and 4, and exhaust valves No. 2 and 4. Adjust valves to specification.
