Valve Guides

  1. Check valve stem clearance. If clearance exceeds specifications, replace with oversize valve guide. Oversize valve guide diameter is .0012" (.03 mm) larger than standard guide. Intake and exhaust guides are identical.
  2. Use a valve guide remover to drive out guides toward combustion chamber. Ream guide bore in cylinder head with 12 mm Reamer (09916-37310). Heat cylinder head to 176-212°F (80-100°C).
  3. Install new oversize guides in head. Valve guide protrusion for intake and exhaust guides is .550" (14.0 mm). Using Valve Guide Installer Attachment (09917-88210) and Valve Guide Installer Handle (09916-57321), drive in new valve guide until valve guide installer contacts cylinder head. Ream valve guide with 7 mm Reamer (09916-34520). Clean valve guide bore after reaming.
