II. Rear Window Glass - Removal/Installation Instructions

NOTE: The removal or installation of the rear window glass from the extrusion should be done by technicians experienced in glass work, or by professionals at a reputable glass shop.


WARNING:

Eye protection and gloves should be worn at all tines during this procedure.


1. Remove! the rear window assembly from the vehicle.

2. Remove the rear window glass from the aluminum extrusion. This glass may be destroyed. NOTE, that the glass is press fit into the extrusion.


CAUTION:

Special care should be taken throughout this procedure to avoid damaging the aluminum extrusion.


3. Remove the old extrusion gasket and clean out any material that may remain in the extrusion channel.

4. Apply the adhesive side of the provided extrusion gasket so that it wraps around the bottom of the rear window glass. Be sure to apply the gasket equally to both sides of the glass.

5. Place the rear window glass on a soft, firm surface (e.g. a carpet-covered work bench). Using a rubber mallet, mount the aluminim extrusion to the glass. Care should be taken not to damage the extrusion. Note that the glass must be centered properly on the extrusion. If it is difficult to install the extrusion into the glass, a release agent or glycerine solution way be used to facilitate assembly.

6. When the glass is completely installed, cut the excess extrusion gasket from the assembly. Be careful not to scratch the glass or the defogger grid.

7. Reinstall the window assembly on the vehicle. Be sure to follow the hardtop installation instructions.
