Clutch Assembly: Inspection
- Check flywheel surface contacting clutch disc for any wear or damage. Recondition clutch disc by sanding with fine grit sandpaper. If surface is in bad condition replace disc assembly.
- Check wear of facing by measuring depth of each rivet head depression. Replace clutch disc if rivet head depression is found to have reached .02" (.5 mm) or less. Standard depression is .05" (1.2 mm).
- Mount clutch disc on transmission input shaft. Turn disc back and forth and check backlash. Replace disc assembly if backlash exceeds .03" (.8 mm).
- Inspect pressure plate assembly for loose diaphragm-spring rivets. Check tapering finger tips for wear. If rivets are loose or tips are worn excessively, replace pressure plate assembly.
