Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the rack and pinion outer tie rods from the steering knuckles. Refer to RACK AND PINION OUTER TIE ROD END REPLACEMENT .
  2. Remove the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  4. Remove the transaxle mount bolt (1).

  5. Remove the transaxle mount bolts (1) and position the transaxle mount aside.

    NOTE:

    Do not reuse the old O-Ring seals.

  6. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) and the power steering cooler hose (1) from the power steering gear.

  7. Remove the power steering gear hoses bracket bolt (1).

  8. Remove the power steering gear bolts (1).
  9. Remove the power steering gear through the left wheel house area.
  10. Transfer any parts as needed.
