Before Overhaul

  1. Remove the turbine speed sensor. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>TURBINE SPEED SENSOR>REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the output revolution sensor. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the air breather pipe. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>AIR BREATHER PIPE>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the ATF cooler pipe union. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>ATF COOLER PIPE AND HOSE>REMOVAL>ATF COOLER PIPE UNION .
  5. Remove all plugs. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>TRANSMISSION CASE>DISASSEMBLY>PLUG .
  6. Remove the ST (STAND ASSY) from the transmission body.
  7. Remove the extension case. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>EXTENSION CASE>REMOVAL .
  8. Place the transmission body on a pipe or tube with approx. 125 mm (4.9 in) in inner diameter.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to tip over the transmission body.
    NOTE: Prepare a container for draining of oil, because ATF remaining inside the transmission body may flow out from the output shaft portion.

  9. Remove the control valve body. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>CONTROL VALVE BODY>REMOVAL>CONTROL VALVE BODY .
  10. Check each piston operation.
    NOTE:
    • Check the operation sound while blowing compressed air into each oil hole.
    • Check other parts than the defective part.

    (A) No. 1 clutch
    (D) No. 4 clutch
    (G) No. 3 brake
    (B) No. 2 clutch
    (E) No. 1 brake
    (H) No. 4 brake (IN side)
    (C) No. 3 clutch
    (F) No. 2 brake
    (I) No. 4 brake (OUT side)
  11. Remove the accumulator piston. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>CONTROL VALVE BODY>REMOVAL>ACCUMULATOR PISTON .
  12. Remove the parking pawl. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>PARKING PAWL>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the manual valve lever shaft. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>TRANSMISSION CONTROL DEVICE>REMOVAL .
  14. Remove the oil pump. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>OIL PUMP>REMOVAL .
