Knock Sensor (KS)

Knock sensor is installed on cylinder block (two used on 3.0L) to detect cylinder block vibrations resulting from detonation. If detonation occurs, KS generates a signal to PCM. Using this signal, PCM retards spark timing until detonation stops. This device may also be referred to as a detonation sensor.
