Select Cable: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Subaru Impreza and 2002 Subaru Impreza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Set the vehicle on the lift.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery.
  3. Prior to removal, set the lever to "N" position.
  4. Lift-up vehicle.
    CAUTION: When removing the exhaust pipes, be careful each exhaust pipe does not drop out.
  5. Remove the front and center exhaust pipe. (Non-Turbo Model)
  6. Remove the center exhaust pipe. (Turbo Model)
  7. Remove the heat shield cover. (If equipped)
  8. Remove the snap pin from range select lever. See Fig 1 .
  9. Remove the plate assembly from transmission. See Fig 2 .
  10. Disconnect the cable from select lever and then remove the cable bracket. See Figure .
  11. Remove the select cable from plate assembly.
