Power Steering Pump: Disassembly

  1. Place pump in a soft-jawed vise. Remove reservoir and pipe from pump. Remove rear cover. See Figure . Remove gasket and dowel pins (if needed). Remove cam ring, rotor with vanes and side plate with wave washers. Discard "O" rings.
  2. Loosen and remove outlet connector. Remove control valve with spring. Remove snap ring from front case. Push shaft from rear of housing. Remove seal. Inspect all components for wear or damage.
