DTC P0341: Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem

NOTE: Wiring between both connectors is shielded. Repair short circuit in wiring together with shield.
  1. If DTC P0340 exists, diagnose and repair that DTC first. If DTC P0341 is only DTC set, turn ignition off. Disconnect CMP sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is 100 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 100 k/ohms, check for an open in wiring between ECM and CMP sensor connectors. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If wiring is okay, check for poor contact at ECM connector.
  2. If resistance measured in last step was 10 ohms or less, check for short in wiring between CMP sensor and ECM connector. If resistance is more than 10 ohms but less than 100 k/ohms, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check for an open in wiring between ECM and CMP sensor connectors.
  4. Ensure CMP sensor bolt is tightened securely. If bolt is tightened securely, remove front belt cover and inspect camshaft sprocket for damage. Replace camshaft sprocket if necessary. If camshaft sprocket is okay, go to next step.
  5. Remove CMP sensor and measure resistance between CMP sensor terminals. If resistance is 1-4 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace CMP sensor.
  6. Check crankshaft sprocket-to-timing belt mark alignment. Adjust alignment as necessary. If marks are aligned properly, replace CMP sensor.
