Air Bag Control Unit Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Subaru Legacy. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disable SRS. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Unplug air bag module 3-pin Yellow connector at base of steering column. See Figure . Unplug 12-pin Yellow connector (AB6) from control unit. Plug connector AB6 into connector 8B of test harness "B2". See Figure .
  2. Connect battery cables. Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 at connector 5B of test harness "B2". If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to AIR BAG MAIN WIRING HARNESS TEST (DO NOT  disconnect test harness "B2"). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace air bag control unit. See CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
