Transmission Control Cable ASSY (MTM): Replacement

HINT:

1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1 
2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
3. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY REAR (SEE  INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSY LOWER  ) 
4. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSY 
   1. Separate the wire harness.

   2. Remove the 4 bolts and separate the floor shift lever assy.

5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
   1. Remove the clip, and separate the cable end of the transmission control select cable from the floor shift lever assy.

   2. Using a screwdriver, release the claw.
   3. Separate the transmission control select cable from the shift lever retainer.

   4. Remove the clip, and separate the cable end of the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assy.

   5. Using a screwdriver, release the claw.
   6. Separate the transmission control shift cable from the shift lever retainer.

   7. Remove the 2 clips and the 2 washers, and separate the 2 cables from the manual transaxle.
   8. Remove the 2 clips, and separate the 2 cables from the control cable bracket.

   9. Remove the 2 bolts and the retainer from the floor.

   10. Remove the retainer from the grommet.
   11. Remove the transmission control select cable from the grommet.

   12. Remove the bolt and the clamp.
   13. Pull out the transmission control select cable and transmission control shift cable through the floor hole.

6. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
   1. Install the clamp with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) 

   2. Push in the transmission control select cable and transmission control shift cable through the floor hole and the retainer.
   3. Install the transmission control cable assy on the grommet.

   4. Install the retainer on the grommet.
      NOTE: Fit the projections of the grommet into the hole of the retainer.

   5. Install the retainer on the floor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) 

   6. Connect the transmission control cable assy to the shift lever refiner.

   7. Connect the end of the transmission control shift cable to the floor shift lever assy.

   8. Connect the end of the transmission control select cable to the floor shift lever assy.
      NOTE:

      • The serrate part of the select cable point should face up ward when the select cable point is connected.
      • The clip should be inserted in the direction as shown in the illustration.

   9. Connect the 2 cable ends, and install the 2 washers and the 2 clips.
   10. Install the 2 new clips on the control cable bracket.

7. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSY 
   1. Install the floor shift lever assy with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)

   2. Install the wire harness.

8. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSY REAR (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
9. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
10. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1 

    Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
