Circuit/System Testing
- Monitor the engine oil pressure parameter value with a scan tool. The engine oil pressure must be at or above the minimum hot oil pressure values. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications

- If the engine oil pressure is low, correct the cause of the low oil pressure condition first.
- Idle the engine at normal operating temperature for 10 minutes. DTCs P0016 or P0017 should not set.
- If a DTC sets, inspect for the following:
IMPORTANT:
Incorrect engine oil viscosity, aftermarket engine oil additives, or engine oil that is overdue for changing, can greatly affect the performance of the camshaft actuator.
- Incorrect installation of the camshaft sensors
- Incorrect installation of the crankshaft sensor
- A timing chain tensioner condition
- An incorrectly installed timing chain
- Excessive play in the timing chain
- A timing chain that jumped teeth
- A crankshaft reluctor wheel that has moved in relationship to top dead center (TDC) on the crankshaft
