Cranking Signal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn LW300 and 2003 Saturn L300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Cranking signal is a 12-volt signal monitored by the ECM. Signal is present when ignition switch is in the START position. The ECM uses this signal to determine the need for starting enrichment. ECM also cancels diagnostics until engine is running and 12-volt signal is no longer present.
