SERVICE INFORMATION

NEW TYPE KNOCK DETECTOR

A knock detector with improved mechanical properties has been in production from Engine No. G122319.

The new knock detector P/N 75-68-801 replaces the earlier type and can be distinguished by being 3.5mm taller and is secured by a longer bolt (see Fig 1 ).

BOLT (30MM) 81-25-197

When fitting a new knock detector to earlier cars, the longer bolt (81-25197) must be installed as well.

TIGHTENING TORQUE 14.7 FT.LB.

EARLY TYPE KNOCK DETECTOR

A new bolt has also been introduced for the early type knock detector. The bolt is the same length as before but is treated with a special blue coating that acts as a thread lock.

BOLT (27MM) 75-62-168

If the early type detector is disturbed for any reason always install a new bolt. Use the torque specification given below.

TIGHTENING TORQUE 10.3 FT.LB.
