Installing Rain Sensor: Notes

Information
Limited rain sensor function if the following points are not observed:
- There must be no air trapped between the windscreen and silicone layer on the rain sensor.
- The temperature of the windscreen and rain sensor must be approx. 20 °C during assembly. Carefully heat the windscreen and rain sensor using a hot-air gun if necessary.
- The contact surfaces must be free of grease and dirt.
- Do not touch silicone layer on the rain sensor.
- Do not remove the protection cap from a new rain sensor until immediately before pressing the rain sensor onto the windscreen.
- Connect the electrical plug, pressing on until it clicks into place.
- Insert rain sensor into holder and press into place.
- Hold the rain sensor and push the mirror base onto the holder as far as it will go.

- Ensure that the mirror base has been pushed completely onto the holder.
- Position the cover on the mirror base and press together until the cover clicks into place.
Information
- When replacing the rain sensor, fault entries may occur in the wiper and in the vehicle electrical system control units. Perform a function test on the rain sensor.
- Check operation of rain sensor.
- Using the Porsche System tester, read out and then erase the fault memory of the wiper and vehicle electrical system control units.
