Removing catalytic converter
- Open the double clamping sleeves by undoing the hexagon nuts M8 (a/f 13) and moving them towards the catalytic converter. If necessary, pry the clamps apart and then move them. If there is corrosion, removing the exhaust pipes and clamps is made easier by heating. Double clamping sleeves must be replaced.
- Depending on version (USA or RoW), disconnect oxygen sensor plug if necessary.
- Release threaded plate on the catalytic converter -2- . To do this, remove 2 M8 hexagon nuts. Remove the threaded plate.
- Remove 2 M8 hexagon nuts on catalytic converter flange and remove one M8 hexagon-head bolt. Remove and replace metal seals, screws and nuts.NOTE: When removing the catalytic converter flange with a mounting lever, do not damage the sealing surfaces of the flange!
- Press the catalytic converter back carefully with a mounting lever. Then, carefully pull the catalytic converter out towards the rear.
