Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With a scan tool clear the DTC.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the following components.
    • Door lock/window switch
    • Headlamp and panel dimmer switch
    • Steering wheel controls
    • Multifunction switch - center console
    • Automatic transmission shift lever
    • Dome/reading lamps - with CF5
  3. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC and verify the DTC does not reset.
    • If the DTC resets, test the control circuit terminal 18 X3 for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
  4. Reconnect each component one at a time and verify the DTC does not reset as current.
    • If the DTC resets as current, test or replace the component responsible for setting the DTC.
