July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT:
  • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
  • Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

  1. Remove the push in retainers (2) securing the upper filler panel (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Remove the upper filler panel (1) from the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
  4. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.6L.

  6. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable to the remote positive terminal.

  8. Disconnect the starter motor BAT terminal wire from the starter.

  10. Reposition the protective boot from the generator output BAT terminal for access.
  11. Remove the generator output BAT terminal nut and disconnect the positive lead from the generator.
  12. Disconnect the cable harness clips from the front of the camshaft cover.
  13. Remove the generator cable from the vehicle.
