Check Engine Light

Check engine light comes on each time the ignition is turned on and stays on for 3 seconds as a bulb test. If the SMEC receives incorrect signals or no signal is received from various sensors, the check engine light is illuminated. This is a warning that the SMEC has gone into "Limp-In Mode" in an attempt to keep the system operational.

It can also be used to display trouble codes. Cycle the ignition to on, off, on, off, on within 5 seconds and any fault codes stored in the SMEC will be displayed.
