Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2005 Isuzu Ascender, 2005 GMC Envoy XUV, 2005 GMC Envoy XL, 2005 GMC Envoy, and 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 1 .
  2. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement (Envoy, Envoy XUV) or Grille Replacement (TrailBlazer) or Grille Replacement (Rainier) in Exterior Trim.

  4. Remove the headlamp wire harness from the retaining clip (1).

  6. Raise and support the headlamp wire harness (1) to gain access to the front end sensor.

  8. Loosen the bolts (1) retaining the sensor to the frame.

  10. Remove the sensor assembly from the frame (1).

  12. Position the sensor assembly above the front bumper.
  13. Remove the retaining bolts and protective cover (1) from the sensor.
  14. Remove the connector-position assurance (CPA) from the sensor electrical connector.
  15. Disconnect the sensor (2) electrical connector.
  16. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.
