July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Test 4: Rear Window Inoperative (Grand PRIX)

  1. Ensure lock-out switch on master switch assembly is in OFF position. Disconnect inoperative window switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe inoperative window switch connector terminal "C". See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to step  5 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Check for open or poor connection in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "C" and master switch assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or poor connection is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair open or poor connection in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "C" and master switch assembly. Retest system operation.
  4. Replace master switch assembly. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Ensure test light is still connected between battery voltage and inoperative window switch connector terminal "C". Move inoperative window switch on master switch assembly to DOWN position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  6. Check for short to ground in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "C" and master switch assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If short to ground is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  4 .
  7. Repair short to ground in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "C" and master switch assembly. Retest system operation.
  8. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe inoperative window switch connector terminal "A". If test light illuminates, go to step  11 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  9. Check for open or poor connection in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "A" and master switch assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or poor connection is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  4 .
  10. Repair open or poor connection in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "A" and master switch assembly. Retest system operation.
  11. Ensure test light is still connected between battery voltage and inoperative window switch connector terminal "A". Move inoperative window switch on master switch assembly to UP position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  14 .
  12. Check for short to ground in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "A" and master switch assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If short to ground is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  4 .
  13. Repair short to ground in wire between inoperative window switch connector terminal "A" and master switch assembly. Retest system operation.
  14. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe inoperative window switch connector terminal "D". Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If test light illuminates, go to step  16 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  15. Repair open in wire between of inoperative window switch connector terminal "D" and splice S307. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  16. Connect inoperative window switch connector. Disconnect inoperative window motor 2-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a test light between window motor connector terminals "A" and "B". Press inoperative window switch to UP then DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step  18 .
  17. Replace window motor. See WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  18. Disconnect inoperative window switch connector. Check for open or short to ground in Brown wire between window motor connector and inoperative window switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or short to ground is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  20 .
  19. Repair open or short to ground in Brown wire between window motor connector and affected window switch connector. Retest system operation.
  20. Check for open or short to ground in Dark Blue wire between window motor connector and inoperative window switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or short to ground is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  22 .
  21. Repair open or short to ground in Dark Blue wire between window motor connector and affected window switch connector. Retest system operation.
  22. Replace inoperative window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
