Description - Abs With Traction Control System (TCS)
Optional Traction Control System is added to existing ABS-IV system. The combined system uses same sensors and most of the same components. The Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) governs the combined functions of the Anti-Lock and Traction Control systems.
The EBTCM determines when one or more drive wheels are accelerating too rapidly by comparing ABS wheel speed sensor signals. The EBTCM is capable of applying and releasing drive wheel brakes, using a TCS hydraulic modulator, several times per second to control slip. Wheel speed sensor data is also sent to PCM, which utilizes fuel and ignition controls to limit torque output until traction is achieved. The PCM is capable of retarding spark, and shutting off up to three injectors as necessary.
