Making Specific Test Selection

  1. On non-CRT equipped vehicles, scrolling to a lower specific test number is done by depressing the FAN DOWN key. Scrolling to a higher specific test number is done by depressing the FAN UP key. The system will automatically display the values for whatever specific test number is displayed.
  2. On CRT equipped vehicles, scrolling to a lower specific test number is done by depressing the NO key on the CRT control panel. Scrolling to a higher number is done by depressing the YES key. The system will automatically display the values for whatever specific test number is displayed.
    NOTE: To cancel a specific test type selection and activate a repeat of the specific test type selection process, depress the OFF key on ECC panel of non-CRT equipped vehicles or LEVL key on the CRT control panel of CRT equipped vehicles.
  3. The charging system malfunctions represented by the specific test selection numbers are as follows:
    • BD50:  Battery voltage is read in volts between zero and 16.3.
    • BD51:  The alternator field is displayed as a percentage. A value close to zero percent represents MINIMUM voltage regulator on time and a value close to 100 percent represents MAXIMUM voltage regulator on time.
    • BD61:  Engine speed is displayed in RPM from zero to 6375.
    • BD98:  The ignition cycle value is displayed as the number of times the BCM has been turned OFF since a BCM trouble code was last detected. After 100 ignition cycles without any malfunctions detected, all BCM trouble codes are cleared.
    • BI51:  The alternator feedback display is LO when there is an alternator problem or when engine is not running.
    • ED10:  Battery voltage is read in volts between zero and 25.5 volts.
