Code B660, Cruise Control Not In Drive
Code B660 will set if the cruise control is engaged and the BCM receives a gear selector position signal indication that the vehicle is in Park, Reverse, or Neutral. During the time the failure is present, the BCM will disengage the cruise control system.
- BCM data value BD41 displays gear selector position as a percentage value. The insert on Code B660 chart compares gear selector position with BD41 value.
- BD41 may display very low values if switch is misadjusted to be between gears.
This code was designed to prevent cruise control operation when the vehicle is not in a forward gear. This code can e set if the operator selects Neutral, when the cruise control is engaged. This will cause the cruise to drop out until the operator reengages the cruise. If the operator describes this condition, but did not move the gear selector out of the forward gears, check adjustment of the gear selector switch, or for looseness in the switch mounting, or connections that could cause intermittent signal to the BCM.
