Axle Hub: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus LS 430, 2003 Lexus LS 430, and 2002 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Replace axle hub assembly if it is dropped or given a strong shock. Do not allow any foreign matter to stick to sensor rotor. Pull straight out on speed sensor to prevent damage to sensor rotor. If damage occurs to sensor rotor, replace axle hub assembly. Do NOT scratch contact surface of axle hub and speed sensor.
  1. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out 2 pins and remove 2 attachments from Special Tool (09520-00031 - 09520-00040, 09521-00020).
  2. Mount axle hub assembly in a soft jaw vise.
  3. Using Special Tool (09520-00031 - 09520-00040, 09521-00020, 09950-00020) and 2 bolts (diameter: 12 mm, pitch: 1.5 mm), remove speed sensor. See Fig 1.
