Tire Pressure Sensor Registration
The following tools are required when performing the tire pressure registration:
- Scan Tool (MUT-III Sub Assembly) (MB991958)
- Vehicle Communication Interface (V.C.I.) (MB991824)
- MUT-III USB Cable (MB991827)
- MUT-III Main Harness A (MB991910)
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to Scan Tool (MB991958), always turn ignition switch to OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.
- Connect the MUT-III (MB991958) scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), with the ignition switch in the OFF position. See Fig 1
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Select "4 SNSR ID REGISTRATION (CHANGE TIRE PRS)" and start tire pressure sensor ID registration.NOTE: Register all tire pressure sensor IDs within 20 minutes.
- Verify the scan tool displayed "4 SNSR ID REGISTRATION Do you want start?". Press the OK.NOTE: If the ID registration is not completed within 20 minutes, all the TPMS transmitter IDs previously registered will be erased. The ID registration must be repeated.
- Register the TPMS transmitter IDs by decreasing the tire pressure to 25.2 psi (174 kPa) or less in 2.9 psi (20 kPa) increments.NOTE: The following operations may be started from any TPMS transmitter. The sensor ID registration has no order.
- Write down each TPMS transmitter ID that displays on the scan tool screen. The MUT-III scan tool cannot identify which registered TPMS transmitter ID is used for each tire.NOTE: It may take one minute for each TPMS transmitter ID to display on the scan tool screen.NOTE: If the TPMS transmitter ID does not display on the scan tool screen, decrease the tire pressure another 2.9 psi (20 kPa) or more. If the TPMS transmitter ID still has not displayed, rotate the tire and decrease the tire pressure 2.9 psi (20 kPa) or more again.NOTE: If the TPMS transmitter IDs cannot be registered, there may be a malfunction with the TPMS receiver. See appropriate manufacturer service information.
- When "4 SNSR ID REGISTRATION COMPLETED" is displayed, press OK.NOTE: The TPMS warning indicator will illuminate, because tire pressures are low.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove scan tool.
- Wait 1 or more minutes, then adjust the tire pressure to the specified values.
- Ensure the TPMS warning indicator does not illuminate or flash.NOTE: If the TPMS warning indicator is illuminated, drive the vehicle for 5 minutes and check the TPMS warning indicator. If the TPMS warning indicator is still illuminated, repeat registration.
