WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. DO NOT  apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

The anti-theft system electrically disables starter, flashes lights and sounds an alarm if any doors, luggage compartment or hood is forcibly opened, or if battery cables are disconnected then reconnected when system is activated.

Anti-theft system is controlled by Electronic Timer Alarm Control System (ETACS). ECU is located under dash to left of footwell. SeeFig 1 .
