Test No. 1 (Communication With Scan Tool Not Possible)
- With a voltmeter, check for battery voltage at Data Link Connector (DLC) B-38, pin No. 16 (Red/Black wire). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, go to step 5).
- Check for battery voltage, at Jumper Connector 1 (J/C 1) B-07, pin No. 6 (Red/Black wire). Connector B-07 is located under top left of instrument panel. If battery voltage is present, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Check for battery voltage at connector B-07, pin No. 3 (Red/Black wire). If battery voltage exists, repair connector B-07 as required. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Check for battery voltage at junction block connector B-50, pin No. 10 (Red/Black wire). If battery voltage exists, repair open Red/Black wire.
- Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between ground and DLC connector B-38, pin No. 4 (Black wire) and pin No. 5 (Black/White wire). If no continuity exists, repair open to ground. If continuity exists, replace scan tool.
