Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The throttle position sensor is a variable resistor whose movable contact rotates with the throttle shaft. As the throttle shaft rotates, the sensor output Voltage changes. Based on the signal the sensor generates, the engine control module determines the engine operation mode, acceleration or deceleration and adjusts the fuel injection accordingly.
