Fuel System: Carburetor: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain coolant. Remove air cleaner. Remove fuel tank cap to lower pressure in fuel system. Disconnect coolant, vacuum, fuel and vapor hoses from carburetor.
  2. Disconnect throttle cable and automatic transmission kickdown cable (if equipped). Disconnect electrical connectors. Remove carburetor mounting bolts. Remove carburetor.
    CAUTION: During disassembly, DO NOT  disassemble the following components: Choke valve, choke shaft, automatic choke assembly, inner venturi, throttle valve, throttle shaft, or fuel inlet nipple.
